Back to Work with COVID-19

In April the leadership of Alabama introduced a plan to reopen the state in phases 😳🙄. As of June 1st the Governor will allow all educational institutions to open. When I saw the press conference that announcement was 🗣 EXTREMELY SCARY for me because I work in education. Now don’t get me wrong I would like to see other adults regularly but not at the expense of my health and wellbeing.

My employer hasn’t decided when we will be returning to work, but we all know we can’t stay at home forever. I have gone over how it will look to be back in the real world. It’s a SCARY thought but I figured if I do my part to educate people and share with them the things I know about COVID-19 and what I’ve been doing to take care of myself/help stop the spread it would make me feel a lot better 🤞🏾.

So let’s dive right in....COVID-19 is a disease caused by an infection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. COVID-19 was previously known as the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) respiratory disease before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the official name as COVID-19 in February 2020. The SARS-CoV-2 virus belongs to the family of viruses called coronaviruses, which also includes the viruses that cause the common cold and the viruses that cause more serious infections such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Like the other coronaviruses, the SARS-CoV-2 virus primarily causes respiratory tract infections, and the severity of the COVID-19 disease can range from mild to fatal. Please read that again the severity of the disease can range from 🗣MILD to FATAL!!! Serious illness from the infection is caused by the onset of PNEUMONIA and ACUTE RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME (ARDS). ( https://www.drugs.com/condition/covid-19.html)

Simply put the disease attacks your respiratory system

Please really check out the graphics below from the department of public health. These stats are from May 23, 2020 at Noon.

Now this may not mean anything to you but this is still very 🤯ALARMING to me. Honestly, I don't want to be out amongst the masses with numbers like this. Please please please note that the numbers are not decreasing I repeat not decreasing in two weeks we will see the damage that is being done with the state completely open. What else really scares me are the asymptomatic individuals (producing or showing no symptoms). That may not bother you because you don't know the signs/symptoms anyway. Well look at the chart below.

Now check out these tips, these are all things I do every day to try and stop the spread.

  1. Build up your immune system: Exercise, Eat well, Take your vitamins ( I take vitamin d3 and vitamin c), Steam therapy and I drink turmeric, ginger, garlic, and lemon tea.

  2. Wash your hands: 🧼🤚🏾Enough said

  3. Stop touching your face: Suh your hands ain’t clean. Please leave your nose, mouth, and eyes alone!

  4. Keep a basket by your door: Get undressed as soon as you walk into your home. Don’t wear the same clothes you wear outside, inside your house, take it off at the door-shoes too!!

  5. Shower before sitting: You already got naked at the door, go ahead and shower

  6. Wear a mask in public: Put on and make sure to dispose of your mask properly! Click the link below to see a video on how to put on and take off your mask. https://youtu.be/L4U1G96s76Y

  7. Physical distancing: I hate the term social distancing, you can be social and still be physically apart

  8. Cover your cough: Cough in your arm not in your hands!

As you can tell I am scared shitless to go back to work but I will continue to try my best to stay safe. All I can say is Pray more, drink your water, and mind your business. God will bless you and you will live longer ❤️
